Summary

Super Simple Weather is designed to do one thing: show you the weather. We do not run any servers, we do not have user accounts, and we do not collect analytics. We never see, store, or sell your location or any other personal data.

This page explains, in plain English, exactly what the app does with your information.

What the app does with your location

  • How it's used. When you tap "Use current location," the app asks your operating system for your approximate location (latitude and longitude). It sends those coordinates to the Open-Meteo weather service (open-meteo.com) to fetch a forecast, then discards them.
  • Who receives it. Only Open-Meteo — a public weather API that does not require an account or API key. Open-Meteo's own privacy policy applies to their receipt of that request: open-meteo.com/en/terms.
  • What we don't do. We do not send your location to any server run by us (we don't run any). We do not log it. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for anything other than looking up the weather.
  • Permission. Location is only requested after you tap the button. You can deny the permission or revoke it later in your device settings; the app still works if you type a city name instead.

City search (Mapbox)

When you type in the search box to add a new city, the text you type is sent to Mapbox's Geocoding API (mapbox.com) to find matching places. Mapbox returns a list of suggestions; no part of your device location is sent with the search request. Mapbox's privacy policy applies to their receipt of search queries: mapbox.com/legal/privacy.

Radar (RainViewer and OpenStreetMap)

When you open the radar screen, the app loads map tiles from two public services:

Neither service receives your account identity or device ID — only the standard information (IP address, user agent, tile coordinates) that any web request carries. The radar screen is only loaded when you open it.

What the app stores on your device

The app saves the following using your phone's local storage (Preferences on MAUI / Android SharedPreferences):

  • Your list of saved cities (names and coordinates you added)
  • Which of those cities is currently selected
  • Your unit preferences (°F/°C, mph/km/h)

This data never leaves your phone. Uninstalling the app removes it.

What the app does not do

  • We do not collect personal information.
  • We do not show ads.
  • We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or any third-party SDK that tracks you.
  • We do not contact any server operated by us. The only outbound requests are to Open-Meteo (weather), Mapbox (city search), OpenStreetMap (radar base map), and RainViewer (radar overlay).

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone — children or otherwise.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, the "Last updated" date above will change and the new version will replace this page. If a future update of the app adds features that collect or share data (for example, a subscription feature or cloud-synced cities), we will update this policy before those features ship.
